If you love the thrill of a one-of-a-kind find, riffling through vintage vinyl and scoring an op-shop bargain, the Valley is a thrift-shop paradise for savvy shoppers. Here’s where to go shopping for second-hand gear, retro furniture and vintage fashion in the Valley.

Phase 4 Records + Cassettes

The name of Phase 4 alone should alert you to the fact that this store deals in vintage finds of the audible kind. With a quirky shopfront on Ann Street, this vinyl aficionado’s haven has racks of records to browse through – new and second-hand – from all music genres, plus cassettes and a smattering of vintage bric-a-brac and clothing as well. Pop in to check out the classic cover art and leave with a fave new find.

Monty’s Pawnbrokers

Whether you’re after estate jewellery or vintage collectables, Monty’s Pawnbrokers is your one-stop op shop. Spanning classic Rolex watches to antique cameras, porcelain collectable figurines and even 1950s guitars, Monty’s has been servicing the Valley for more than 140 years, so it’s practically a vintage find itself!

On the corner of Brunswick and Alfred streets since forever, Vinnies Fortitude Valley is open every day except Sunday. The recognisable landmark is renowned for its huge range of clothing from retro fashion to pre-loved designer labels, wedding attire and formalwear. Be prepared to rummage to find a gem! Don’t forget to check out the furniture section to add some classic character to your home, as well.

Red Cross Shop

For pre-loved and new clothing, accessories and homewares, head to the Red Cross Shop in McWhirters. This branch-operated store is staffed by volunteers in order to fundraise for Australian Red Cross within the local community. You can also donate any good-quality clothing, accessories and books direct to the Valley Red Cross Shop.

Vintage Treasures in the Valley

Shopping at Vintage Treasures is like peeking into your stylish aunt’s wardrobe – it’s the perfect edit of fabulous vintage finds minus the mothballs. Browse the eclectic range of fashion, jewellery, collectables and furnishings from the ordinary to the outré. And with two store locations – Valley Metro and TC Beirne Building – there’s twice as many options!

Valley Laneway Markets

Don’t forget the Valley Laneway Markets on the first Saturday of every month. Here, you’ll find a curated collection of vintage fashion and accessories amid the treasure trove of crafty artisan wares.

Valley Record Fair

Also held on the first Saturday of every month on Chinatown Mall, the Valley Record Fair has more than 20,000 records in all formats and music stylings for all you audiophiles. Make a day of it and browse the local music stores such as Butter Beats and Phase 4 Records + Cassettes as well.
