VeganBurgz brings a lean, green twist to the classic American burger joint. Purveying all your fast food faves, the ‘Burgz signature range of burgers is guaranteed to satiate. Try the loaded Stacks On burger with fried tofu, grilled capsicum, mushroom and eggplant with rocket and spicy sriracha sauce on an organic matcha bun for a satisfying meat-free meal. Open Wednesday to Sunday from 4pm.
Tea Master Vegetarian Cafe Restaurant
Calling all fans of classic Taiwanese Chinese cuisine – the master will see you now. Check out Tea Master for an all-vegetarian way to get your fix of dumplings, soups and noodles where all but a few meals get the vegan tick of approval, too. We can’t go past the radish patties, kimchi stir-fried sticky rice cakes and handmade dumplings. Don’t forget to finish your meal with a pot of tea or a bubble tea – delish! Open Monday to Saturday from 11:30am.
This place means (vegan) business. Leading the charge for alternative vegan hotspots in Brisbane, take a break from the retro arcade games and chow down on a meal from the mostly vegan, entirely delicious menu at the in-house Hellmouth Diner. Choose from tasty snacks or more substantial meals such as The Phoenix Southern-fried vegan chicken burger.

Lord of the Fries
Brisbane’s only outlet for the all-vegan Melbourne-based Lord of the Fries is conveniently located on Brunswick Street for all your plant-based fast food cravings. From sweet sides like Mac n’ Cheese Balls and Pizza Bites to burgers, hotdogs and yes, fries, Lord of the Fries ensures vegans needn’t miss out on a fast-food feed. There’s even breakfast muffins! Open from 11:30am Monday to Friday and from 12pm on weekends.
The Real Thing
New to California Lane, The Real Thing cafe is 100 per cent plant-based and 110 per cent unmissable for on-the-go green goodness. Think satisfying smoothies and sweet treats such as chia puddings. A fresh salad menu includes Rainbow Slaw and Spiced Pumpkin and Walnut options – add tofu or falafel for a filling meal. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30am to 3pm.
Sweet tooths rejoice – Shadowplay House serves up homemade, gluten-free, plant-based treats daily at the Wickham Street cafe. Order a tea, coffee or hot choccy and settle back with a savoury snack, or one of the rotating biscuits on offer. Co-owner Danni is the cookie whiz and her assorted biccies include vegan Linzers, shortbread, pinwheels, meringues and gingerbread, to name a few. Open from 7am on weekdays and 9am on weekends.
5 Dogs Fortitude Valley
While not a totally plant-based menu, Brisbane-based 5 Dogs Meat X Vegan X Fries has a solid list of vegan hotdogs using Tofurky sausages. Choose from Vegan Beer Brat or Kielbasa with sauerkraut and onions and your choice of sauces. There’s even new vegan burgers and a plant-based parmy, if you’re into that, at the Brunswick Street Mall outlet.
