The start of a new year promises new opportunities and 2018 is shaping up to be a great year of eating, shopping and playing in Fortitude Valley. We’ve hand-picked the most exciting new places you won’t be able to resist.

The Rattler
One of Fortitude Valley’s newest additions, The Rattler opened in late 2017 on Ann Street.
Beer lovers will be delighted by the 16 beers on tap, each carefully selected from locations all around the globe. If beer isn’t your tipple, don’t fret – The Rattler has an abundance of wines, spirits and cocktails to enjoy.

The Rattler has quickly made a name for itself as a premier dive bar with regular weekly entertainment, showcasing some of the best of Brisbane’s local talent. Check it out for yourself from Wednesday to Sunday, open 5pm ‘til late.

Palace Supper Club
Located at the top of Chinatown, Palace Supper Club is already making waves among Brisbane’s party scene. Prepare to be graced with sparkling chandeliers on entry and stunned by the sheer size of the area. The interior designers didn’t miss a thing, so you’d better dress to impress to fit in with the décor!

This venue is ready for any kind of occasion – from chilled after-work drinks in the lounge to decadent dinners and laid-back Sunday sessions on the veranda. The same can be said for the menu; you can nibble on grazing plates, sink your teeth into something a bit larger, or order tapas to share. With a focus on fresh food, immaculate presentation and mouth-watering flavours, dining at Palace Supper Club is a cut above the rest.

FV by Peppers
Nestled in the heart of Brisbane's party precinct, FV by Peppers is a vibrant hotel where you'll feel right at home. With its stunning architectural design, inspired by the iconic high rises of New York City, this is not just your run-of-the-mill hotel. Fitted out with a skyline pool, moonlight cinema, modern fitness facilities and a relaxing outdoor lounge, you're sure to have a stay to remember. Sleek, stylish and sophisticated, FV by Peppers is a must when staying in Brisbane.

Phoebe Paradise
This home-and-hosed fashion label has been capturing the attention of fashionistas for quite some time now and has finally opened up shop in the Valley. Phoebe Paradise is the brain-child of Queensland illustrator, designer, musician and artist Phoebe Sheehy, so expect great things from this label. A stone's throw away from Winn Lane, Phoebe Paradise is home to a wide range of colourful, fun and vibrant fashion items sure to turn heads!

As well as serving as a fashion store, Phoebe Paradise doubles as a pop-up space for local designers, artists and creatives to showcase their wares. Phoebe plans to host music gigs at the store in the near future, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for exciting things to come!

Steph’s Café
Tucked away among McWhirters retailer space on Brunswick Mall, Steph’s Café is a fresh face to the Valley café scene. A hole-in-the-wall coffee shop, Steph’s is a quaint little store where your hunger and caffeine cravings will be kept at bay. Why not stop in for lunch and try one of their delicious Turkish rolls, fruit salads or indulge with some toasted banana bread? To commemorate their opening, Steph’s Café is offering a deal of a medium coffee and a ham, cheese and tomato toastie for just $6! Better hurry, the deal ends late February.

Doughlord Brisbane
Roll up, roll up! Doughlord has just opened on the iconic Brunswick Street and is ready to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings. This hole-in-the-wall shop is themed like an ice-cream parlour, decked out in sweet (pun intended) pastel colours. We know what you’re likely thinking – ‘but isn’t cookie dough unsafe to eat?’ Not at Doughlord! Instead of eggs, the mixture uses heat-treated flour to avoid the risk of nasties.

On entry, you’ll be met with a glass cabinet showcasing the flavours available to taste and purchase. Eight flavours are on offer each day, each unique but equally as delicious. Notable mentions must go to the quad choc, almond and white chocolate, hazelnut crunch and peanut butter brownie. Look out for a vegan
lamington option soon to be released!

Doughlord is run by two born-and-bred Brisbanites, so you can treat yourself and feel good about supporting local business. Ice-cream more your flavour? No worries, soft-serve ice-cream is also available. What are you waiting for?

Sen Studio
New to the idyllic Winn Lane is Sen Studio, a fashion boutique that echoes earthy and natural vibes. With a brand mantra like ‘keep it simple’, you can expect block colours and everyday garments that suit no matter the occasion or weather. Sen Studio specialises in silk and linen textiles and is the best in the biz at creating flowing, dreamy outfits. As a proud organic and eco-friendly brand, you can shop knowing your dollar is supporting an ethical business with community and environment front of mind.

Lucky Egg Fried Chicken
From the owners of Valley favourite Brightside comes this nifty outlet, Lucky Egg Fried Chicken. Feeding the hungry masses of Fortitude Valley, the crew at lucky egg know a thing or two about making that perfect fried chicken, even going so far as to be crowned the place to go for that delicious delicacy.

Burgers are half price with any side purchase on Tuesdays, so why not order a buffalo crispy burger, made with fried chicken, American cheddar, garlic pickles, spinach and buffalo sauce, or the vegi crispy, made up of a tempura fried eggplant steak, American cheddar, pickles, slaw, and honey mustard sauce. If that’s not enough, spice up your order by picking some sides. We recommend the Dorito popcorn chicken or the buffalo fried cauliflower. Another thing – Lucky Egg Fried Chicken make a new and unique creation every week for their Burger of the Week.

Oven Fresh Bakery
What’s the next best thing since sliced bread, you ask? Why, freshly baked sliced bread of course! We are pleased to inform you that Oven Fresh Bakery, a shiny new addition to Fortitude Valley, is set to open very soon. With an outlet already charming the locals of Oxley, prepare to be won over by Oven Fresh Bakery's friendly and helpful service and their sweet and savoury baked goods to make your mouth water. The team even make birthday cakes to custom order on site! Keep your eyes peeled for when this shop opens its doors in the coming month.
