October is jam-packed full of entertaining events in the Valley, ranging from live music to wine tastings and free family-friendly festivals.
Stop by the Valley on Saturday 5 October and be treated to spectacular live music performances from an impressive line-up of artists from 1pm to 7pm, including Finley and the Moment of Clarity, Stella McCloskey, The Blockades, Fraser Bell, Chakra Efendi and Marco.
If a festival celebrating all things brewed sounds like your cup of tea, then make sure to check out Brisbane’s first Laneway Tea Festival on Saturday 5 October. Beyond plenty of green and black teas, chai, matcha, kombucha, iced teas and bubble teas on offer, there will also be a DIY tea blend bar as well as tea competitions. The event is free, however registration is required here. Otherwise, secure a VIP ticket for $10 and receive a tote bag, a ceramic tea tasting cup, and vouchers from the day’s vendors!
Nepalese Dashain and Tihar
On Sunday 6 October from 10am, Chinatown Mall will transform into a bustling celebration of Nepalese culture with a combined Dashain and Tihar festival hosted by 8848 Momo House. This family-friendly event will feature a free health camp, traditional and modern dance, a jam-packed music agenda including traditional performances like bhailo, a fashion show, kids games and face painting and, of course, mouthwatering Nepalese cuisine.
Singer-songwriters, instrumentalists, and those with other creative talents will be convening at Blute's Bar every second Wednesday from 9 October as the bar begins their series of open mic nights. Head along to share in the creativity of the talented individuals of the Valley while sipping on a beer or two.
A designer fashion show combined with a long lunch, Shop the Runway, hosted by Cloudland on Friday 11 October from 12:30pm to 3pm, is set to be a shopping experience unlike any other. The event will feature an interactive curated fashion parade from which you have the chance to purchase designer labels, coupled with a spring-inspired three-course long lunch and two-and-a-half-hour drinks package. In celebration of the release of her exceptional debut album Keepsake, featuring singles ‘Without A Blush’, ‘Stay With Me’ and ‘Obsessed’, Hatchie has announced an Australian album tour, set to kick off in Brisbane on Saturday 12 October. In the lead up to Halloween, Netherworld will be collaborating once again with breweries from around the country to create a line-up of monstrous beers for the third Monster Menagerie, held on Saturday 12 October. In the spirit of this year’s candy-coated, frosted theme, Netherworld will be conjuring up eight unique, dessert, candy and chocolate bar-inspired beers. From 10am to late on Saturday 26 October, over 50 artists will descend on Fortitude Valley as the Hidden Lanes Festival returns to celebrate the Valley’s bustling laneways! Spread across California Lane, Bakery Lane and Winn Lane, and a number of venues in between, immerse yourself in live music, explore the laneways with themed discovery trails and participate in masterclasses and meet the maker sessions. There will also be markets, fashion, food and art displays which will make this an unmissable family-friendly and free event!
