The Jan Murphy Gallery will be home to a kaleidoscope of colours to help brighten our days during the cooler months.

Sneak a peek into the gallery’s large windows this month, and we guarantee that you’ll love the wonders found inside.

Lara Merrett | 7-25 May

Celebrated local artist Lara Merrett will be bringing her signature interactive fabric exhibition to Jan Murphy Gallery from 7-25 May.

As an artist who loves to explore art through touch and movement as much as colour, Merrett’s exhibitions are unique and educational.

The popularity of Merrett’s previous interactive displays across Sydney and Melbourne guarantees that Brisbane visitors will be in for a treat when experiencing her work at Jan Murphy Gallery.

Her most recent solo exhibition, Paint me in at Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art, was a hit with everyone from critics to kids! A colourful experience of looped hanging drapes allowed participants to interact with the installation by playing with the fabrics and swinging on the drapes.

All this and more await when Merrett comes to the heart of the Valley this month!

Michael Muir | 28 May-15 June

Known for adopting modernist painting techniques and unique perspectives, Michael Muir’s beautiful artworks push creative boundaries and allow the viewer’s imagination to run free.

From 25 May-15 June, this recognised name at the Jan Murphy Gallery will be displaying his next round of beautiful paintings, which highlight his artistry first honed with formal training in painting and design, and later recognised in his 2014 win of the Mosman Art Prize for his piece, Past the Stacks.
