Mums prove that not all superheroes wear capes.
If you’ve ever fallen over, been hungry (even if you weren’t, they’d still feed you just in case) or couldn’t quite make it to the end of payday (sorry mum, we’ll grow up eventually), your mother has and always will be there to take care of you.
The very least we can do is give her one special day in return, and Mother’s Day makes for the perfect opportunity to shower her with love and gifts!
We’re sure she’d love another rainbow macaroni necklace… but here are some slightly (okay, completely) better ideas on how to make mum’s day on 12 May.
For the creative mums
A number of Fortitude Valley favourites have taken it upon themselves to create something unique for the wonderful woman in your life, including Bakery Lane with a Mother’s Day edition of their beloved Plant & Homewares Market. Before the big day, either venture in solo for some sneaky plant purchases (for mum, of course), or bring her along for workshops, market stalls and live bands. More information about this event can be found here.
If she’s a creative creature, treat mum to a special Paint ’n’ Pour session at MD’s Italian Kitchen & Bar. You’ll be sipping wine, painting cherry blossoms on a take-home canvas and making gorgeous memories along the way. More on that here.
For mums who love to brunch and lunch
For the mothers that love to brunch, Beirne Lane’s infamous Brunch Club will be a go. No matter which option you choose, all packages guarantee three hours of bottomless brunching - the only choice you need to make is what drinks mum will love! Plan your picks here.
For an indulgent Mother’s Day lunch, Cloudland has you sorted. The three-course Italian-inspired share-style lunch comes complete with a glass of GH Mumm Cordon Rouge Champagne and exclusive Mumm macaron on arrival. Mumm’s the word. Find out more and get tickets here.
For mums who want something more low-key
If she’s set on something a little more low-key, here’s a little play-by-play plan that doesn’t skimp on luxury. Start by treating mum to a picture-perfect breakfast at The New Black, followed by a trip to Hearts & Heroes for a fresh haircut.
After you’re well-fed and pampered, take mum to Bonnie Hislop and buy her a beautiful ceramic mug, then after heading home for a well-deserved nap, end the night right with dinner and drinks at Mr. Mista.
Guess who’s going to be mum’s new favourite?
