The 2022 Australian Unity Tour de Brisbane cycles into the city for the ultimate weekend ride on Sunday 10 April.

Whether you’re riding for charity or cycling in the free community ride, the Valley’s cycle shops have all the gear and advice you need to get on your bike for the Tour de Brisbane.

From cycling kits for men, women and teens at Cycle Closet to e-bikes at Zoomo, Ride Electric and MyeBike and a range of bicycles for all terrains at Valley Cycles, check out where to kit up for cycling in the Valley.

The event attracts around 10,000 riders to cycle a fully closed 110km course of city roads, but you don’t have to head to the CBD to check out all the two-wheel action.

The Valley is the perfect vantage point to cheer on the Piccolo (50km), Medio (80km) and Gran Fondo (110km) course cyclists with the Tour de Brisbane route passing popular cafe and pub stops on Ann Street, Winn Lane and California Lane.

The Osbourne Hotel on the corner of Ann and Constance streets offers a prime spectator spot from its large windows on the road route. Stop here for $15 all-day pizza on Sundays or choose from the a la carte menu of small plates, salads, steaks and burgers while you cheer on the cyclists – Lycra optional.

Down a side street off Ann Street, Winn Lane has a variety of eateries on offer. Get on your bike to Ben’s Burgers to nosh on old-school burgers and shakes. Grab an outside table fronting Ann Street to watch the riders whiz by. Tucked further within Winn Lane is the exceptional No. 5 Cafe with big breakfasts, healthy fare and fresh salads to go plus great coffee to fuel your ride.

Head to California Lane off Brunswick and McLachlan streets for a smorgasbord of cafes and restaurants to cycle through on a roving feast. On the Brunswick Street side, take a window pew at Reverends Fine Coffee & Bar for cafe culture with a view of the Tour. Also on Brunswick Street, dine on plump, pillowy dumplings at Fat Dumpling Bar, take a streetside table at Giardinetto Italian Restaurant for classic fare, or grab a cheesy slice at New York Slice Pizzeria. You can also visit Duke’s on Brunswick for mouthwatering food, drinks and cocktails. Or kick it Stateside with PJ’s Steaks hoagies and sub sandwiches or vegan fast food fabulousness at Lord of the Fries.
