Rats get a bad rap.

According to the Chinese zodiac, if you’re lucky enough to be born in the Year of the Rat (1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020), you’re thought to be reliable and grounded.

Happily, if you’re part of the “rat race”, you’re also pegged to have career success in 2020.

The first weekend of February sees Chinatown Mall transformed for Lunar New Year celebrations, and the festivities are both fun and free.

No guarantee you’ll see a dancing rodent but there will be lion and dragon dancers, firecracker displays, interactive workshops and roving street performers all welcoming the Year of the Rat.

The multicultural celebration includes classical Japanese dance displays, Chinese choral performances, K-Pop and V-Pop entertainers, traditional Korean percussion and string instrument recitals and Filipino dance demonstrations.

Remember to book your favourite Valley restaurant so you don’t miss the full sensory experience of this delicious time of the year with banquets and Lunar New Year specials galore.

Honour your ancestors and connect with family this Lunar New Year.
