Where to see live music in the Valley

Fortitude Valley is the beating heart of live music in Brisbane. From grungy dive bars to beautifully appointed theatres, the Valley is home to a comprehensive array of live music venues. Whatever genre you’re into, we’ve got you covered with our list of where to see live music in the Valley.

If you’re hunting for a night of great live music, set your sights on Black Bear Lodge on Brunswick Street Mall. Hear new music from your favourite local and interstate acts or discover a brand-new fave – you never know what may happen.

Open late seven days a week, Empire Hotel is the Valley’s local watering hole serving cold beer, hot food and live music. Head there on a Sunday night to catch Live & Loud Sundays’ acoustic sets from 9pm – perfect for forgetting the next day is Monday.

Located in the underground cellars of The Prince Consort, Greaser is a dive bar by name, retro by nature and fuelled by fried diner food and good ol’ American craft beer on tap. Catch local live bands on stage every Friday and Saturday from 8pm.

A rock-and-roll dive lounge with a hint of the Irish, O’skulligans is dark, loud and ever-so loose. The sister bar of The Brightside hosts local and touring musos and acts as a crash pad before gigs and after sweaty moshpit dives and everything in-between.

Boutique and a little bit classy, Press Club is always on-point with crafted cocktails, a new menu and of course, live music from Brisbane’s best bands. Whether it’s a weekend blow-out or a mid-week hang, Press Club has you covered.

A Valley staple and one of the most iconic music venues in Brisbane, if you haven’t had a beer at Ric’s or a meal at Fatboy’s, what have you been doing with your nights out? Drop by for drinks and live music seven nights a week.

Say aloha to great drinks and fun times at this Hawaiian dive bar and grungy surf shack featuring live music five nights a week. From rock and country to blues and funk, it’s all on at Suzie Wongs. Enter through the retro fridge door (you read that correctly) off Ann Street.

What better place to see a rocking live band than a former house of worship? Church is in session at The Brightside and Brightside Outdoors every weekend, offering audiences communion with local and interstate bands. Hallelujah!

One of the Valley’s newest live music venues, The Fortitude Music Hall is Australia’s largest ballroom/theatre-styled venue. The Fortitude regularly promotes a headlining list of the who’s who of local, national and international acts.

Keep the party going until late at The Outpost, located within The Fortitude Music Hall. Featuring a diverse lineup of artists and an impressive drinks menu, The Outpost is the perfect place to see a more intimate show or kick-on afterwards.

Affectionately known as RG’s, this local is another Valley institution. Boasting the biggest beer garden in the precinct, RG’s is the perfect place to start your weekend. On Friday nights, sit back with a meal and a drink and enjoy live music from local Brisbane artists.

Live music meets good vibes and great food at The Sound Garden, a two-storey space with a 7m-tall indoor tree on the Brunswick Street Mall. Promising an experience like no other, The Sound Garden presents a live local muso lineup every Friday and Saturday.

The pot of gold at the end of Brissie’s live music rainbow, The Wickham kicks out the jams every Friday night from 7pm with a celebration of the city’s queer live music scene. With new acts every week, you can catch an eclectic mix of Brisbane’s best artists in the Garden Bar.

You can’t talk about live music in Brisbane and not mention The Zoo. One of the longest-running live music venues in Australia, The Zoo welcomes national and international touring acts and local talent. Check out the gig guide for what’s happening at The Zoo.
