The Valley has a proud history as an incubator for new brands and emerging designers, influencing the local street style and beyond. From pop-ups and markets to boutiques and shopfronts, we love showcasing the fashion makers and movers and shakers in the Valley. To celebrate Brisbane Fashion Month, here’s where to show some local label love in the Valley:
This luxe linen label by Brissie designer Lucy Ferraro is made in Bali and channels that breezy beachy boho lifestyle. Shop the feminine styles at the LJC Designs showroom in California Lane, open by appointment Monday to Friday.
With all items designed and handmade by Alice herself on site, this California Lane studio houses her whimsical prints, clothing, shoes and accessories for men and women. Alice Nightingale designs are small-batch drops only, so get in quick.
Jess Blak’s unique pieces have proven to be a silver lining amongst Brisbane’s jewellery scene, filling the gap in the market for contemporary silver craftwork that is both high quality and ethically produced.
A retail showroom for the local brands nurtured by The New Garde fashion agency, items available at UnCommon Store range from jewellery and headwear to logo tees and printed dresses. Labels to know include Astille, Maison Garde, Death Valley Store, Marky Atelier, Skuel Work Apparel, Stranger and Helena Rose.
The Winn Lane workroom and shop showcases the talents of emerging Brissie designers and labels with a focus on thoughtfully made garments and seasonless collections. We love Sharka Bosakova’s simple elegant dresses, the sweetly subversive styles from Bulley Bulley, Phoebe Paradise’s rockstar vibes and the creepy-cool prints from Bugdumb.
A contemporary design space with an emphasis on graphic design, Forge Forward hosts creatives of all stripes. Some of the local fashion items currently available include printed tees from Future = Female and Forge Forward’s own label.
