It’s fair to say things have changed significantly for all of us during the coronavirus pandemic, but there are some amazing local stories that showcase the inspiring and innovative spirit of our Valley community.

From free coffees to feeding our frontline workers, restaurant takeaways and delivery taking off to new products that add value to our lives, every month we’ll take a closer look at how some Valley businesses are doing things differently and how you can support local.

From pampering essentials to hand sanitiser

Empire Dolls knows the importance of self-care and wellbeing, especially now when most people are working from home or self-isolating. The Bakery Lane style oasis and beauty emporium has fast-tracked its Goddess home lifestyle collection to sprinkle a little everyday magic during this time.

Available online via the Empire Dolls e-boutique, the Australian-made vegan and organic range is created with locally sourced ingredients and includes essential oil fragrances, hand-poured candles and indulgent body products for home pampering.

There’s also the brand-new luxe and lushly packaged Goddess hand sanitiser, a wellness collab with Laruche Bar & Lounge, filling a practical need with a niche product.

Empire Dolls style director Charlie says: “This was a project brought to life with our laneways friends, Laruche, and demonstrates the foresight of Valley businesses and our determination.”

“The support of the Bakery Lane community and our landlord, Arthur Apostolos, during this difficult time has paved the way for the early release of our Goddess lifestyle collection. We also look forward to reopening the new-look Empire Dolls in the weeks to come, thanks to the wonderful support of our loyal clients.”

Healthy meals at home and feeding our frontline workers

Baedeker Bar and Wine & Dine’m Catering have raided their impressive cellar to deliver premium Australian and international wines, including red, white, rosé, Champagne and sparkling varieties, direct to your door.

Through their Express Catering division, the team is also supplying fresh, nutritious meals for next-day free delivery to select areas for orders over $60. As well as meal packages, you can order a selection of essential household items such as rice, pasta and toilet paper.

Wine & Dine’m Catering is also involved in the Superfood for Superheroes initiative, delivering healthy gourmet meals to essential workers in healthcare, aged care and education across South East Queensland.

Wine & Dine’m Catering director Craig Fox says: “I am incredibly proud Wine & Dine’m can be part of this initiative and donate our time, effort and meals to the people who put themselves at risk every day to keep our community safe and healthy.”
