When winter comes to Brisbane, it’s time to swap the outdoor pursuits for inside activities. Luckily there’s plenty of ways to hang with your mates in the Valley, while staying cosy inside to keep the good times rolling. Here’s 9 ideas for your next catchup:
1. Create a masterpiece at Montana Art Project
Sign up for a sip and paint sesh. The Montana Art Project pop-up at Hotel Carrington offers all you need to create two canvases using the acrylic free-flow pouring technique, plus you can order food and bevvies from the pub.
2. Line up for darts at Oche
Hit the bullseye at Oche Fortitude Valley. Book a booth online or simply walk in for 85 minutes of dart-throwing action. With top-shelf drinks and delicious food available, it’s a fun and competitive way to hang with mates.
3. Game on at Netherworld
Go retro for games night. From pinball machines and arcade games to vintage consoles and board games, Netherworld has all the ingredients for a great night in. Add craft beers, house-made sodas and a mostly vegan fast-food menu and it’s game, set, match.
4. Shoot some hoops at B. Lucky & Sons
Limber up indoors with the latest and greatest arcade games. We love the NBA Hoops area to dunk on the rest of our team with our high-scoring action. B. Lucky & Sons also scores with retro sandwiches and snacks courtesy of Randos Sandos.
5. View an art exhibition
The Valley has seven art galleries and spaces in the precinct, plus plenty of street art to take in. Do a gallery trail in the Valley for a cultural catchup with friends – find out what exhibitions are currently showing via our Events Guide.
6. See a show at the Judith Wright Arts Centre
The Valley’s visual and performing arts hub, the Judith Wright Arts Centre hosts several artistic tenants and stages new works, performances and shows. Check out what’s currently on via our Events Guide.
7. Putt-er up at Holey Moley Golf Club
With a previous life as a church and a nightclub, Holey Moley Golf Club Fortitude Valley has irreverence in its DNA. The pop culture-themed mini-golf course in this eclectic venue promises a hole lotta fun!
8. Get your flow on at Rooftop Yoga
While not technically indoors, a Rooftop Yoga at Cielo session is sure to warm you up. Choose a sunrise or sunset class and strike a pose with either power, slow flow or relaxation yoga sessions at Cielo Rooftop bar.
9. Flower power with Helena Rose
Gather your gal pals for one of Helena Rose’s regular workshops in California Lane. Learn to make flower crowns, botanical wreaths and dry flower posies with all materials supplied. Workshops include a glass of bubbles and a grazing platter from Oasis on Brunswick.
