Fortitude Valley’s Chinatown Mall will play host to celebrations of the Chinese Moon Festival from 4- 9pm on Saturday 7 September!
Also known as the mid-autumn festival, the Valley’s celebration will include traditional elements of this important Chinese festival, including a 20-metre long dancing dragon and delicious mooncakes filled with red bean and lotus seed paste, as well as on-stage performances and roving entertainment by the hilarious Grandma Anna Yen.
Don’t just fill up on mooncakes, though! When better to indulge in all your favourite Fortitude Valley Chinese restaurants with family and friends than in celebration of Moon Festival? Enjoy juicy dumplings and braised pork belly at Fat Dumpling, steaming seafood at Enjoy Inn, or salt and pepper quail and Peking duck at Super Bowl.
Alternatively, those looking to dine before the celebrations begin will love the traditional trolley-style yum cha (featuring mooncakes, of course) at Golden Palace Restaurant or the iconic King of Kings!
To reflect the celebration’s focus on family and friends, an installation in Chinatown Mall will also invite passers-by to add the names of their own loved ones to a moon-shaped structure, symbolising closeness and holding people in their thoughts.
Enjoy the fun, food, and focus on family and friends that come with the vibrant Chinese Moon Festival in the Valley on Saturday 7 September from 4-9pm.
