Brunch (noun): the glorious meal between breakfast and lunch that lets us roll straight out of bed and into a bacon-and-egg burrito.

Whether you missed your morning alarm clock (accidentally or intentionally is fine by us), or simply can’t look past a mid-morning smashed avo toast, we’ve taken to Fortitude Valley’s best brunch spots to let you in on the good morning goss. We have a hunch that we’ll see you around Fortitude Valley for brunch.

1. The New Black
Brunch is The New Black, as your new favourite Bakery Lane cafe will have you believe. Go sweet with red velvet waffles with strawberries, cream cheese glaze and meringue, or go savoury and BYOB (build your own breakfast)  – think a choice of bread, eggs your way, two sides and sauce on the side.

2. Bare Beanz Cafe
Tucked into Warner Street, Bare Beanz Cafe has the means to make your day with freshly squeezed juices, smoothies and a great selection of breakfast and brunch staples. Wake up and smell the Wolff Coffee, then tuck into the likes of berry-topped hotcakes, smoked salmon eggs benny and a savoury crepe drenched in hollandaise.

3. Reverends Fine Coffee & Bar
Pull up a pew and get pumped for Reverends – one of Brisbane’s best specialty coffee shops on California Lane. We adore the brekkie burger for one smooth brunch option – we’re talking smoked bacon, fried egg, melted cheese and sriracha mayo on a toasted milk bun. If you’re late for an important date, the grab-and-go options are your go-to!

4. Brunch with Bite at Cloudland
Bounce out on the right side of bread at Cloudland’s Brunch with Bite on Sundays from 11am to 2pm. The weekly brunch banquet series with entertainment on the side serves up a two-hour Italian-inspired food and drinks package that includes jugs of spritzes, mimosas, soft drinks or mocktails, depending on how naughty or nice you feel.

5. No. 5 Cafe
No. 5 is alive and kicking in Winn Lane with a killer lineup of fresh and flavoursome brunch options. From warming specials such as loaded croissants with bacon, hashbrowns and poached eggs that have to be seen to be believed to new faves like housemade chocolate granola, brunchers on the run can also fuel up with mini granola pots and chia cups.

6. The Rose Room
The Valley’s pretty-in-pink venue is a Turkish delight confection and the ideal Instagrammable spot for a brunchtime soiree. Slide into The Rose Room and indulge in mushroom croquettes, mango ceviche tacos, Turkish eggs and breakfast pide. Be sure to leave room for a Fruit Loops thickshake and homemade baklava. Yum!

7. L’Americano Brisbane
For a stylish breakfast or brunch, you can’t go past the classic repast on offer at L’Americano with its elegant location within Coco Republic on Wickham Street. Dine in on the curated Italian Riviera and mod Oz-inspired menu (we adore the breakfast brioche, piadina and dolce selection) or pick-up an artisan pastry and Vittoria coffee to go.

8. BROOKI
Newly opened BROOKI bakehouse in the Stewart & Hemmant building on Marshall Street is the bakery and cakery of our Parisian dreams. Full of sugar and spice and all things nice, we adore the specialty cakes, fudgy brownies, colourful cupcakes (complete with towering icing) and perfect macarons, baked fresh daily with new flavours weekly. Drool x 1,000.
